So back to the tear out, obviously the worst part of the build, I don't even want to know how much time i've spent inside this box tearing things out, hopefully this is the last time I tear anything out of this truck. Had to start somewhere! Well then a tree fell on the house and busted up the garage pretty good and the repairs on that killed 2 weeks of build time and meant I didn't make it to Autorama. But oh well, there's always next year! But after that was taken care of got back to it and started doing some more work. Built a quick little test rig and got to play around with my friend Chris' (aka SnowDrifter) IM-SG...quite a fun tool, may have to grab that again from him in a few weeks..... continued the tear down... and pretty much cleaned out here Next step was to start the smoothing process....its always been on my list of things to do with this shell to go fill and smooth out the inside of the shell but I kept putting it off. Well ordered up some Sonus Matter and got to work! I don't think I really took any progress pictures of the filling process but it was long and dusty!!! So after I got things all smoothed out I had to make a template baffle out of some left over cardboard It was going to have to be a "2 piece baffle" so that I could fit it in through the loading wall without ripping any of that out. Three layers of 3/4" birch ply ought to be enough... Originally I was going to do a flush mount baffle as well but with the subs being so close the edges of the shell it didn't work out so I had to scrap those pieces...no pics of my failed work with that lol Started routing out the port and sub holes... Then I got to painting! I wanted the inside of the rear chamber to be black and well, you can guess what color the front chamber is... Next was to get the wiring ready for the subs before I put the baffle in.
