Thanks a lot man. Hopefully ill be bumping tomorrow. I finished painting to box and the clear coat is currently drying. FedEx attempted to deliver today (wasn't suppose to till tomorrow) but no one was home to sign for it. Hopefully I will get home from school tomorrow. put it in the box, run speaker wire, snap pics and bump the whole way to work.

this is how everything sits for now. next thing to do will be to make a false floor which the amps will be mounted in and the wires will be hidden under. (BTW the box is attached to the floor with angle brackets. the wood is just because it hangs over the edge a little and i dont want any weight on the brackets trying to pull them out.)

So yeah I still have a lot more to work on but for the month I have had this car I'm liking the progress considering I'm working 30-35 hours a week plus I'm still in high school. Pretty much I only get to work on this Monday and Tuesday after 3 and Saturday and Sunday before 3.

Here's what I'm planning on doing this summer:

Replace drivers door trim (little broken and annoying me)

Fix master cylinder leak (very very slow leek)

False floor in trunk

Build trim around sub box

Paint trunk carpet black

Get rims(steelies are gay)

Get lower

The big three

I feel this is a pretty good list of stuff to get done. Ill keep you guys in tune as more things happen.

Gotta love the volvos. Things are build like tanks.

They really are! The only issues mine has is the horn doesn't work and the accelerator malfunctions with a cold engine.

Anywho, awesome so far! Nice box, too. That sucker should sound amazing.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone. I just woke and i have 4 hours till i have work so im going to see if i can bang out the skateboard rack. also what do you guys think i should do for the trim pieces? i was thinking of wrapping in the same leather i did the door mounts in but now im thinking of just trying to match the factory trunk interior.

So today I went to hobby lobby and got myself some black felt for the trunk floor and walls/trim and I also bought some 1" strapping and buckles. Upon getting home and going into my barn I find a pile of Volvo parts dropped off by my uncle which I later found out he forgot to sell after he sold his 960 5 years ago. This pumped me up a bit.

Some barely used winter tires on steelies

Four almost new looking hub-caps (My car only had three caps) also 3 oil filters and a windshield wiper motor

And finally a set of Ipd side markers with an installation guide.

The front wheel is the hubcaps I had (only three of) and the back is the set of four my uncle gave me which personally I like better though I still want to get some nice OEM rims.

So finally after playing with some of the stuff and working out how to install the side markers (not installed though) I got on to building the skateboard rack.

Here are the parts I cut out of 3/4 MDF and some 1"x1 1/2 scrap wood. I already drilled and screwed the nylon straps and buckles on to the MDF. The ends of the straps were melter with a blow torch so they will not fray.

Here is the rack all nailed together.

Mounted to the sheet of wood I screwed into the underside of the trunk then hid under the liner.

With the board hanging as a test fit.

I didn't like how loose the board felt on the rack so i cut the horns off the rack and resanded it.

finally when I got home from work tonight I frosted it with Spackle like a cake. I plan to tomorrow sand this down and paint it a nice smooth gloss black. The part the it looks like I missed is actually for some reason already dried. This stuff goes on pink and turn white when its dry.

Sadly with my work schedule this week the false floor will probably have to hold off till next weekend. I plan to go to carworld early tomorrow morning and pull a drivers side trim piece and one rear deck speaker grill off a 940. I'm thinking of cutting a hole in the rear deck in the middle to allow for more pressure to make its way in to the cabin. When everything is all done it will look like there are three factory speakers grill in the rear deck instead of two. How much of a difference do you guys think this hole will make? I would think at least it would cut down on a little bit of trunk rattle, which reminds me i need to sound deaden the trunk. what do you guys recommenced I should use? secondskin? dynamat? fatmat?

So past few days I have started a few more little things on the car. I'm modding the front grill a little bit, re-blacked the bumpers and I'm finishing the skateboard rack.

On the grill there was one small bit which was broken so i decided it would be cool to cut the section out and insert a solid yellow chunk.

This is the part which was broken.

Here it is with both sides cut out.

This is how I have it planned to go in.

This time I sealed the MDF the proper way, with slightly watered down wood glue painted on with a foam brush then sanded.

Here is the skateboard rack and the grill piece primed.

Finally the piece glued in and the rest of that section sprayed. Im still working on blending the MDF piece to the grill.

Today I also bought a bondo brand black bumper restore kit and applied it to the front and the rear bumpers. I left a piece of painters tape on the bumper so you can see the difference it made. Now after everything dried blending this bare spot with the rest took longer then it took to do both bumpers. (NOTE if you use this or another product like this make off the car body and anything else you don't want black, this will stain anything!)

More to come tomorrow. The skateboard rack will be installed for good as the final coat of paint is currently drying. I will hopefully also finish up the grill tomorrow and it will be installed at the end of the day when i get home from work.
