Junior Russell
Well the past 2-3 nights ive been working on putting my sub that fell apart back together and last night i got it finished. this morning i went to do a video of it to show that it is indeed working. well i put it in its box and plugged it into my little 100w radio and it started playing but it was making a weird noise and it was playing VERY little bass. i started poking around on it and anywhere except one section it cuts out all bass BUT when i push on one section it plays perfectly....does anyone have any ideas or knowledge or anything that could help me out? im afraid to put it back in the blazer cuz with it acting like this im afraid itll blow the coil when i hook it back up to my amp..... HatersGonnaHate
That's my guess. Coil isn't aligned properly, so when you push that "sweet spot", it sounds normal. Anywhere else you push, it grounds out. Junior Russell
hmmm well damn its going to be a bitch to get it back apart to where i can put it back on with it aligned....btw how would i go about aligning the coil?i tried the paper trick and theres enough room where the coil doesnt touch the inside magnet but not enough room to wheree i can get a peice of paper of something in there to make sure its spced properly... Guest
You have to get a whole new recone. I've never heard of someone able to take off the soft parts to realign them.

Junior Russell
You have to get a whole new recone. I've never heard of someone able to take off the soft parts to realign them. this is the second time ive done it the first time the paper cone tore off i put it back on and decided to just switch out the cone and add another spider for stiffness and it worked up til bout the begining of this month and it over heated and detached everything so i decided to repair the original paper cone and put it all back together....dont beleive me check the vids ive got on youtube... my first guess is tensil leads. second guess coil rub. well the leads are out of the way and arent moving from their spot as for the coil rubbing i have no way to see inside to see if it is or not but thats what everyone seems to be thinking it is so im probably going to end up taking it back apart and aligning it again then gluing it again....Edit~ also forgot this but i took it out of the box about 5 mins ago and it plays perfectly if you push on the corrisponding section of the spider also the spider is extremely stiff Edited April 26, 2012 by Junior Russell Quote http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
