rcardell
I have 8 12" Alpine R's 500 rms 1500 max a piece,4000 watts rms 12000 watts max for all 8. Can I go over that rating and run like say a 5 to 7,500 watt rms amp without damaging the woofers. Hope I asked this question in the right spot. Robby Holmes
its possible. your going to need a more than stable electrical system though. maybe not as high as 7500 either. rcardell
Ok. Just saying 7500 cause that's half of there max. I need to know cause I want to get the most out of them without damaging them.

tyma1026
I'm not the expert here but it seems a little high to me. After rms each sub will be getting an extra 438 watts if you do 7500 rms total to all subs
ChevyBoy95
going off max ratings.... great. you would need 2500 WATTS RMS for 5 subs you would need 4000 WATTS RMS for 8 subs no more no less. Watch the bass
I mean 6000 is half of there max. Have nothing to do with a maxrratin. Pulse Car Audio burped a AA Arsenal with a 10 times higher RMS power, sub survived several burps. There is a thing called boxrise, that means from boxdesign to boxdesign the Ohmload fluctuate. Most subs can take a over on there RMS rating, but it´s not recommanded. rcardell
Ok. I just wondered because most amps rms is half of there max and most speakers are too. Want to know is there any amps that there max is 3 times as much as there rms?

Link to the burped Arsenal http://www.stevemead...swells-ddbeast/ you meant to say, most non mainstream stuff can do that, 98% of mainstream stuff cant really take over their RMS.. its just 2 cheaply made.. btw, just stick with RMS, dont worry about going over it till you get some more knowledge under your belt, it will save you $ in the long run..
