Omega5002
lookin good man, how do you like the amp so far? Right now, it's going to sit for a while till I get the stuff, and figure out how to install it since I have to make a new amp rack. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
Omega5002
Well, here's what I did yesterday, and today with the help my best friend, got the Big 4 done Here's what I used, 20ft of 30% oversized audio-technix 0 gauge (rated at 300 amps), 300 amp fuse, fuse holder, battery terminals, and some rings Started out by sanding the battery terminals since they were a bit oxidized while my friend, who's good with cars unlike me, was trying to decipher my complicated engine, and the wiring mess. Worked on the wiring Solder my terminals, and applied tech flex Here's the finished results Alt + to Bat +, and Alt frame to Bat - Bat- to frame (covered it up to prevent dirt, may redo that) Now, here's the interesting part, when my friend was trying to get the stock positive wire out, he came to discover this in the middle, and two positive wires were connected at one point, both being about 4 gauge, I replaced it with the 0 gauge, I believe this must be the voltage regulator for the car, I'm not sure, may have to read into it Engine block is way down there, couldn't reach to take the picture Conclusion, car now rests at 13.8 volts, and when I rev it up 13.9. Voltage still drops below 12 volts, but it's louder, and voltage isn't as jumpy as before, just goes down when I turn up the volume. Guess my alt is too small, or my battery bank is small but still an improvement over the stock wiring, and it's prepared to have an aftermarket alt when I get the chance to afford it. Guess I still can't play full tilt yet, but I can turn up a bit higher now. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
boom50cal
Volvo's are confusing as hell but great cars, super reliable. This build makes me want to tear into my dads 01 S40 Turbo so bad! Quick question for you, does your motor have 3 coil packs? My dads 4 banger just has 2, which is odd to us. I'd assume Volvo would put 3 on a six cylinder. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. Omega5002
I'm not sure on that, and mine only has 5 cylinders I will have to look it up. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
dog24fret
At least it sounds as if it helped with charging. They have 4 gauge for all power but 0 gauge will cut down more resistance on the system. The charging numbers already better than my Volvo did. The way they set that up the regulator is so weird. My t5 only had one pack not individual. Where do you get the tech flex at? I've seen it just don't remember where. Looks good sir. Omega5002
So, I figured out why I'm dropping into the 11's still, after talking to Mike Singer, he told me I ran my positive run to a solenoid, not a regulator, which was limiting my current So he told me I should add another run to do directly from alternator positive to battery positive, meaning I'll end up doing a Big 5, but hey, there's no such thing as overkill in electrical, and I have enough wire anyways I'll do that tomorrow morning 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)

Omega5002
Small update, add a second run of positive, this time straight from alt to bat Electrical is more stable, and I rest higher, but I'm still dropping into the 11's, may have to redo my voltmeter connection to see if I messed up there. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
SLAYER1805
Could be the Voltmeter just showing the wrong readings, do you have a multi meter to check it?
