Looking good

Now all you need is the matching spacer to link them together

Ahh that's right, they made link-spacers.

Forgot about those. :good:

I'll have to check the mounting location.

I might have to angle or stagger the amps to mount them.

Definitely!

Don't underestimate because of its age.

These guys were built SOLID with great components, unlike products today which are made with the cheapest parts available.

Have you seen my post(s) about refurbing my Punch200. 20yr caps in it were better then new ones I got to replace them... :o

Haha yup, I saw what you did.. You're simply MAD! I love it hahah

Always improving, better and better, awesome Job man

Thanks, much appreciated!

I like the odd classy amps you have been choosing.

Thanks! LOVE the old school amps. They sound great, are built with great components, they last and they bring back some great memories from the 90's. :D

Good news, good news.

I have a good offer on my Kenwood HU. Should be sold by Tuesday which opens me up to purchase its "replacement". ;)

I also ordered all new, shiny guts for my PPI amps that will power my front stage.

Digi-order_zps5c549a39.png

I ordered a few extra parts as well since its always nice to have some spares sitting around in case some parts are bad, damaged or for other projects.

A lot of these old amps use similar parts so they can used on other refurbs as well.

I did some "before" measurements on the PPI A404 to see where it's at functionally.

All the signals were decent and clean but the rails were slightly skewed and there was a slight power difference between the front and rear channels.

Nothing bad by any means, but I want to compare how the signals look before and after the refurb.

So stay tuned for another "Refurb'ing a Classic" update coming up! :good:

Did some experimenting today.

I mentioned I had a trick that I wanted to try.

Here's my impedance plot with the cabin sealed:

XL12InboxDoorClosedImpedance_zpsf8f2f786

Notice that even though I'm wired to "1ohm", my lowest impedance is really ~1.5ohm-ish.

My SPL peak is 45Hz. Notice my impedance at 45Hz is actually about 8ohms. :o

In dBDrag, I'm only concerned with burping at my peak so with an impedance of 8ohms, I have PLENTY of room to play with.

Some friends at my last competition (and the guy that keeps beating me) mentioned something that really got me thinking.

Sooooooo.........
