Not to mention just an awesome guy to talk to and has amazing customer service and could probably go on for another page about it.hope you get it figured out. Not much chance of them warranty-ing it. It's 3yrs old so I'm expecting everything out of pocket. Yep, I just chatted with Singer about his thoughts on this failure. Super cool dude. Heard nothing but great things about him and his alts. If I have any further issues then he's definitely getting a call from me. DC power uses a big solder iron and compressed air to desolder those joints Compressed air.....interesting! I'll have to keep that in mind next time. Apparently a rectifying diode shorted, caused a short in the stator windings which caused other diodes to short. Mechman said they'd send me some pics. I'll post them when I get them. I also didn't get any test data with the repaired alternator. Anybody else with new or repaired Mechmans get test data (current draw)? I find it very odd that they don't provide that automatically with every shipment. I never got any test data when I initially switched my stator windings to 200A @idle / 280A @full either, which was back in 2012. Just for shits, I'll snap some pics of the repaired alternator and post them up. I noticed a copper rectifier plate which is different from what I had before. Yep they charged me, it was out of warranty and the apparent reason was a random diode failure... $50 for a new rectifier plate. $50 for a new stator. $20 for shipping.
