Wicks
Very clean work done !!! great build! clean build Thanks Guys! Really appreciate the views and comments. Lookin really good man, real nice install and attention to details Ordered it new. Now I wonder if all their alt's look like that. I'm guess they just take housings from used alts and throw their own new material inside it. But wouldn't that make it remanufactured? To me NEW is new, no scuffs, dirt, dings, grease, or wear and tear. I think I'm misinformed about something but that doesn't look new to me. Hmm The Alt is/was new. The housings may be reconditioned (?) but the windings are all new. I bought it earlier this year and it was spotless. It was installed for a while and I was having issues so I pulled it out and sent it to Mechman to get looked at. So it may still have had a spot of dirt on it here or there. Didn't bother me any since its just gonna get more dirty under the hood. Wicks
Great build How do you feel about the sound difference when switching from the Skars to DC's? Any noticeable sound difference? Good question! Honestly I just got the system functional again last night so the XL's only have ~20mins of play time on them. I haven't fine tuned with my DD-1 yet so I just lightly played a few songs on the drive to work this morning. I can say though that the XL's are laughing at my DC2.0K, they are STIFFFFFFF. So at the moment I can't really make any comparisons until I get a little more run time on the XL's. I'll keep the updates flowing though. Wicks
Small update: I got the system functional again last night so I could try out the XL's. Since the last time the system was running, I connected my factory positive run (since it was there, I figured I might as well use it). Its only 2-4ga or so but extra copper never hurts. I also added a 0ga ground strap from the Mechman to my chassis frame under the hood and also one in the trunk that connects my XP3000 to the frame. So now I'm utilizing the factory wiring and the chassis frame along with my pos/neg runs of 0ga Radaflex. As I push my DC2.0K to its limit (still need to fine-tune with my DD-1 a bit) my voltage drop at the amp is only 0.2V. Electrical is looking SOLID at the moment and I still have another XP3000 to install yet.
