Here's a quick run-through so you can see the full transformation in one shot.

Here's the stock rear deck lid as it was:

Here's the rear deck lid by itself, pulled out of the car:

Notice the large indentation along the middle and the factory speaker grills which needed to be covered and smoothed out.

Initial layer of foam in the indentation to fill it so I wouldn't require so much body filler.

Heavy application of Rage Body Filler:

Cutting the port hole:

Port extension piece:

Port extension smoothed out with body filler:

After many hours of sanding:

Finished result:

There's a few finishing touches yet but this gives a pretty good idea of how it will look.

AWESOME !!! Will never think off this type of finish..

:clapping::clapping:

Thanks!

Yep I would never had thought of it either until I saw Rogue's build.

Feels just like fleece.

A very dense and short fuzzy/velvety finish.

Pretty durable although I wouldn't design anything to continually rub against it.

For how easy it was and how smooth the finish came out, I'm tempted to cover more with it.

Although I don't think it would work with my fiberglass trim panel around the subs. Too much fuzziness in one area ;)

Man I took a month away to do some "life" stuff and come back to this! I continue to hate and admire you my friend! While reading through and you said you had a plan for finishing that you would reveal later, first damn thing I thought of was flocking! YOU BASTARD!!!!!

I'm kidding of course! I'm loving it. 10000000% I'm loving it! You knocked it out of the park my friend!

I'm about to get back on mine next week and this was just the motivation I needed to get to work on it. Thanks my friend!

That things beautiful man, I'd love to see some numbers!

Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do that
I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

oh lawd.

Whoops!

Thanks for the luck, I'm gonna need it. I need to utilize all the small bits of spare time I have and get this thing done.

I hate sanding too. But I think it's just something that's going to be what it is! Can't get these results without putting in the work, right!

Looking forward to more buddy! Nice job!
