JesseyMclame
So, as I've heard, cone area is "king". So 3 15's > 4 12's. What If the 15s were some what of an entry series, and the 12s were one or two steps above an entry series ? Would the 15s still be louder since the cone area is greater ? JesseyMclame
What size T1? Quote Current setup in my 96 Hoe Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs. baaudio
Most entry level woofers are low excursion vs higher rated ones. That's not always true, just an observation. That being the case, excursion should be accounted for in a comparison like this. Honestly I'm not sure of the calculation exactly, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in Quote Team NWSPL baaudio Build Log 2001 GMC Sierra walkthrough 4 Mechman Elite 370s, 10 AGM batteries, 3 Crossfire XS v2 18s, Crossfire 8k
JesseyMclame
Yeah I get what you're sayin. I mean they aren't too crazy far apart in price. I guess essentially I'm comparing three P1 15s to four P3 12's, though P3 12s aren't what I have, just not trying to start a vs thread. But I was at my local shop today and just kinda pondered that idea. Quote Current setup in my 96 Hoe Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs. baaudio
Same excursion, go for cone area. The excursion deal would come into play with say two Sony xplods vs say an AA SMD. only comparing excursion here, not cone area so thats why I didn't specify what size driver Quote Team NWSPL baaudio Build Log 2001 GMC Sierra walkthrough 4 Mechman Elite 370s, 10 AGM batteries, 3 Crossfire XS v2 18s, Crossfire 8k
TeamHT
True. Displacement. Cone area is not always everything. Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
AMI CUSTOMS
Cone area isn't everything, that is why you can see some builds where people are doing insane numbers with just 2 15s and then some people having a hell of a time to get loud with 6 15s, to many variables to list.
