Christopher Fox Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I have two 12" Pioneer Champion Pro subs rated at 1000rns. They are being pushed by a cheap Planet Audio AC5000.1D Amp and they move a TON but the bass isn't there. Is it the frequency? Is it the subs? Obviously it has some bass but not the amount I was hoping to hear going from 250rms Excelon subs... I can give any more details that you need. Yes, I know these subs are cheap, the amp is cheap and doesn't do rated, etc. I have a HO alt. already so voltage is fine, etc. Any help is much appreciated!
Jessica Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I would start by making sure you have the polarity correct, maybe they are out of phase and cancelling out. Christopher Fox Posted May 13, 2012 Author Report Posted May 13, 2012 I'll go ahead and do that. How much does wiring have an effect? I know I'm only running 2 awg and I'm running 14awg to the subs. I used the diagram to wire them down into 1ohm and I'm pretty sure I did it right. I'll check it again though. Any other suggestions while I'm looking into this?
Jessica Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 14ga might be a bit small. i use 12ga OFC and my subs are only 450rms each. But if they are moving like you said then they are probably getting the power. what size fuses are in that amp, that should tell you what wire to use. edit. For your power wire, i think 2awg copper is about 120a max and 2awg cca is about 100a max. but that will be less as the length goes up. Christopher Fox Posted May 13, 2012 Author Report Posted May 13, 2012 My box is a 3.5 cu ft. ported box tuned at 32hz. It's filtered for low frequency only, the amp is a monoblock class D. When I played bass I love you I was actually scared I was going to destroy the subs because they were moving so much. While they are moving a ton, it's almost like the frequency is too low to hear, or the sound just isn't making its way into the cabin.
