boostin302
hello guys and gals, i read the fuse and wire sticky up top about 10 or so times and still alittle confussed. im running 0 gauge wire all the way back to a d3400 so i was going to stick a 250 up front and another 250 in the back towards the d3400, then go from the d3400 battery to the amp with a 100 amp fuse. does that sound correct? running 2 hifionics brutus amps. 2400.1 @ 1 ohm. non strapped. so i'll have 2 power wires coming from the d3400 to the amps. fuse on each wire. thanks for your time and answers. joshua Quote My build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143943-2001-mustang-gt-system-rebuild-box-build-pics-updated-61512/ 2001 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC 380HP 270 amp Mechman alt 2 12" Treo SSX custom built. 6.47 cu ft, tuned to 32Hz 2 hifonics Brutus 2400.1, strapped 1 optima yellow top 1 Kinetic HC1800 14.4v @ 29Hz, 2k RPM over 100ft 1/0 XS flex wire Big 3 in 1/0 100sq ft fatmat deadener 145.3 on music, 142.6 sealed on music Stop being a pussy and wall it off. sprkn_ranger
You fuse to whatever the wire is rated for. Example would be if your 1/0 is rated or 300A ten don't use a fuse any higher than 300A. The fuse isn't so much to protect your equipment as it is to keep the wire from overheating and catching fire should it ever become shorted out on something. The fuse isn't so much to protect your equipment as it is to keep the wire from overheating and catching fire should it ever become shorted out on something. so according to the fuse chart, for 0 gauge wire max fuse rating is 325 so would a 250 amp fuse up front and a 250 amp fuse out back before connection to the d3400 be alright? also, if im running 0 gauge to the amps would it be safe to run 100 amp fuses for each or would that be to small of a amp rating and they just pop like virgins cherry Quote My build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143943-2001-mustang-gt-system-rebuild-box-build-pics-updated-61512/ 2001 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC 380HP 270 amp Mechman alt 2 12" Treo SSX custom built. 6.47 cu ft, tuned to 32Hz 2 hifonics Brutus 2400.1, strapped 1 optima yellow top 1 Kinetic HC1800 14.4v @ 29Hz, 2k RPM over 100ft 1/0 XS flex wire Big 3 in 1/0 100sq ft fatmat deadener 145.3 on music, 142.6 sealed on music Stop being a pussy and wall it off. bassface
Id actually run a 300 amp fuse up front and 300 in the rear. Only to keep as much flow as possible because you will probably lose some current over the wire run as well.
