Wicks
As has been said, a simple fan will be your cheapest option. Next running some sort of ducting to get cooler air into your trunk. Next look into a computer CPU chiller. A more eloborate fan/heatsink/liquid cooling option. If your really innovative and price isn't an issue, look into a peltier device. It's a semiconductor that produces a temperature differential between it's plates when electrical current is run through it. Basically you provide power to it and one side gets cold. Drawback, you'll need a fairly big device to cool a whole amp and it'll take a good amount of power from your car to provide enough cooling. HHR Ed
Question. Do your amps get hot enough to shut off, or are you just feeling them and they feel warm to you? Those RF amps to indeed run warm. Most amps can have a heatsink temp of 120-140F in some cases but the circuitry temp is still within operating spec. Either way, running fans in a hot trunk will help. Air circulation goes a long way. Chris Hammer
build a small box around the amp/s and do a push/pull fan set up. Get some cheap cpu fans and hook up a realy to your remote turn-on on the amp. scooter99
You could fab you up a air conditioning duct from you air conditioner to go into the truck ... Or ... you could fab you up a forced air induction duct from your convertible section ... I was going to do this in my civic, and the only thing that I was questioning, was if you run a duct into your sealed trunk, from the other sealed side, won't that cause a breach in the seal so to speak. I mean the duct is sealed so I guess not but I just couldn't really wrap my head around it. But seems like this would be the best case for cooling I think. Might want to encase your amps though. Then the cool air would be directed at them not just into the trunk. Or you could direct under them and that would help too I think.
