I'm gonna give it a shot though last year my Habs did great but my scotch bonnets never matured. I'm planting earlier this year so hopefully it won be an issue. I'll be over wintering them this year as well so next year it'll be game on for sure. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
79 cutty Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 I am sure you know, but a couple pointers.....if you want them "hotter" starve them of water periodically. It basicaly forces the pepper to consolidate it's water and in doing so stresses it enough to make it hotter. Also, don't plant them together or with other foods. They fight for the water/nutrients in the soil and will actually make other foods semi-spicy due to stealing the water supply from them (if that makes sense.) Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it. I'm thinking about building a couple more raised beds just for the peppers or going with giant pots. I eat habaneros all the time and they don't bother me but jalapeños mess my mouth up bad. Ghost peppers destroy my throat but don't bother my mouth that much.
