I would highly recommend buying a PAC LC1 knob. I never use the stock bass knobs.

i completely agree. its a much better knob. the ones that come with the amp tend to wear out or just act funny. mine would pop every time i moved the wire and full gain would be about half way up on the knob and turning it any further did nothing.

besides that, remote gains are ok to use, apart from my preference stated above. Bass boost knobs I would never install.

Or if you still want total control without a bass knob, you can always add a crossover that has subwoofer control...you will get the best of both worlds...

I personally don't like them for the same reason I don't like EQs that are with reach of me cause I end up playing with it all the time and end up getting what should be a set and forget set up into a cluster fuck and ruins all the time I spent with the RTA to get it dialed in

Personally I like being able to change the level from a knob rather than going through the HU. I just set the gains on the amp to full and adjust accordingly on the bass to the level that I want.

There was a pretty long thread just a little bit ago that was all about how this method is the WRONG way to do it. Your supposed to put the knob up to max then set the gain on the amp and leave the amp gain alone. Then you can turn the knob up and down to your hearts content.

I need to find this. I don't have any kind of tools unfortunately to determine where on the amp to set the gains to avoid distortion :( I could use a DD-1

any idea where that thread is?

I'm pretty sure it was I te amplifier section and was titled "just made a discovery" or something like that. There is really no need to go through that whole thread though. Just get a dd-1 or an o-scope, or find someone who has one and get it tuned right.

I would like to get one, but for the price I can't afford it with my new sub on the way and my car currently not starting lol :( I might know of someone who will have one, I'll have to check with him. I've wanted to do this with my HU too
