Kyblack76
I dunno,... i maybe on the early beer buzz,... it is friday... but Your burning coil on low stock alty power?... correct? Hell, you get a high output alty, and that amp will actually show you what it can do.... you think you smell coil now?? with no power?.... thats probably saving the subs from going up in smoke for good......... set your gains,...... properly..... or, maybe your expecting to much..???? I guess, what i read was, "i smell coil" and the answer is he needs more electrical????????...... i have to be mis-reading??? EDIT- please be gentle,... booze is on......... Or, i dont understand the issue in full... soundbwoy
Not to thread jack, but out of curiosity, what would the amp put out cleanly at 2 ohms at 14.4v, being as sundown amps achieve "rated" at 12.8v, also does anybody know how efficient they are at 2 ohm? Thanks
Miguels
when the amp is tuned with the dd1, voltage is probably sitting at 14's. with the subs hooked up, voltage is dropping. thus clipping is induced earlier. which would explain the coil smell. doesn't tuning with car off help tune at 12 volts? might be dumb but when i tune my amps i leave car off so when i do play them and get voltage drop i wont get clipping edit: OP are you sure the smell is coming from the subs? i have seen where some people think its the subs then later find out it was the tweeters burning on some 6x9 Edited June 9, 2012 by Miguels Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
