Test: Sundown Saz-1500d Vs Rf T10001bd

The way it looks it is almost not fair to compare an RF amp straight up to an amp from another company rated the same. Everyone knows that RF amps put out much more than rated power because they pretty muhc overbuild the shit out of their amps (not a bad thing), so basically they build their 1000.1 like a 1500.1, and their 1500.1 like a 2000.1, and so on. I really like the RF amps, and would probably choose one over a sundown, but those sundown amps are no slouches either. If I remember correctly there was a guy running 4 sundown 1500s, and was getting nearly 10k out of them on some forum. The sundowns are built to withstand the crazy low ohm levels.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

well if you look at the testing the 1000rms (as you put it) RF took more power to run then a 1500RMS (as you put it) amp

so.

If youre gonna do a test then use two amps in the same catagory......put a 1500 against a 1500. Im not dissing on your beloved sundown amps im saying IMO that test makes the RF look better. When i read it, i see a 1000 watt rated amp keeping up with a 1500 watt rated amp. Thats a good thing!

shit , to tell you the truth, a 145.1 on the new termlab at the dash on a single RF 1000 or even the single SD 1500 amp is a really good score.......

if the RF is drawing more power then get it the extra battery it wants or do the big 3 and re-test.....sounds to me like it wants more juice and thats not a bad thing its pretty normal. 1500-2000 watts (class D) is about the time i start tellin people its time for an upgrade anyway.......nothing out of the ordinary here.

Well If I had the money I would buy either of the RF or the Sundowns. Don't know much about RF, but Here are the tests done on the 1500d and the 3000d over at ***..'

Solid amps in My opinion..But I am just a newbie so my opinion is like Well you guys know.

1500d regular power tests

1500d High Voltage tests

3000d regular tests

3000d High Voltage tests

Good reading none the less. I would buy a Sundown for sure, They have great customer service, as far as I can tell.

RF has always made great stuff. RF is just a little more pricey than what I can afford. And it is hard to find a dealer where I live at. Anyway. Happy New year..

Bottom line is, the 1000 is a misslabeled amp, and should be sold as a 1500....

They miss label thier amps so that they can be used in different competing classes Iam sure

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

Both amps in my test pulled a consistant 103-104a of current @ 14v with peaks of 110a. The T1500-1bd pulling 113a @ 14v means it puts out about 105watts more. That makes complete sense since the birthsheets I've seen for them have ranged 1600-1700watts.
