Hotdog
You tune higher for SPL and Lower for Daily. So they make swappable ports one for each occasion Quote (NEW) 2004 F-150 Build Log -->http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192208-hotdogs-f-150-build-log/ 2003 Mercury Mountaineer Build Log --> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/114380-hotdogs-2003-mountaineer-build-log-20-removed/page__gopid__1602379#entry1602379 2008 Equinox Build Log --> http://www.stevemead...g/#entry1475764
jeffrm
Say if you want to compete some and still be a low end monster, you make two ports 1 for comps and 1 for daily. Usually you would have a short port thats for comps and another longer one that goes in to lower the tuning. Thanks guys.I haven't done a comp since 86 so I'm out of the loop so to speak. But seriously why would the spl tunning be so diff in comps verses daily.Sorry if this annoys the more seasoned guys I didn't know there was that much of a diff. That my box then was tuned to 40 for 4 12" power series fosgates where do they tune to now. SnowDrifter
It's easier to get louder at a higher frequency. Lots of people tune between 32-37 Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
bkolfo4
40 is a little high for some of today's music. As you tune higher, the output peak above the tuning becomes higher. If you get the tuning and box size correct for the resonant frequency of the vehicle, you can gain a lot of dBzzzz! jeffrm
My truck peaks at 46hz no matter what box ive done, so tuning around your resonant frequency can gain dbeeeez, but lower tuning( high 20s-mid 30s) usually is for daily, and moving ALOT of air. dog24fret
Ok thanks guys. The things that I still got to learn is kinda funny compared to some of yall.Didn't think 40hz would be high for any music.Just started learning the resonant stuff didn't use it much back in the day. SnowDrifter
Lots of the newer stuff is mid/low 30s. 40hz doesn't cut it for that Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
