miklgagne
To be fair differnet boxes are better for different subs. I do think the type rs are pretty decent though. I had 4 12's in a wall on low power in my blazer and they were pretty loud. But it seems the Type rs peaked closer to that 45hz, were as the dds had a flatter response which is cool. DD's ftw
SlamminBeats
my theory is that the r's were maxed out on power so they were moving to the fullest potential, where dd's just needed some more!! ive seen the build/heard both..etc
fecupe2001
i know a few things about both models and maybe a few other subs like every one else on this forum, the best thing about DD is the fact that they are NASTY below tuning frequency, i'm testing some loudforce subs right now and they just murdered the DD 2512's on a lot of boxes i've tested so far, BUT, the DD 2512 it's way louder below tuning frequency just like the results you are getting. Looking at the box sizes, as much as i love the way a DD 10" plays on a 1.5 cubic feet box, that's not the best size for it, when i was playing with the DD 1510's i even tried 2.1 cubic feet per sub and i was getting great results, in other words, to be honest, i love the price of the alpine type R and the way the perform on that box size, if you are limited to use a small box then the type R is gonna get louder without any problems, if you have room for a bigger box then the DD should get louder IMO. Very nice test indeed, lots of people hate those drop in test, i honestly think they are very cool, you should try to find another pair of 10's hehe I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains.
