GMC_Matt
anyone got some suggestions on what the best comp set is for under 200 dollars? i used to have a 2 memphis comp sets in my old car i thought they sounded great but i'm looking for something different now. i have an RE 15 so i thought about getting some RE comp sets but i've looked around and some people are saying that RE's products aren't as good as they used to be so i'm not really sure if i wanna spend that kind of money on a brand that sucks now. Cardboardcat15
"Best" will always be subjective. This. There is no "Best", just a handful of good suggestions. The best way to figure out which set you will like is by listening to them. Just get a handful of suggestions from people who have used them and then take your pick. But, to contribute to the thread, I actually have a pair of DLS x-program 5.25's. They lack a bit in the midbass department, but they sound pretty nice IMO. IIRC they were $140.00 off ebay new. IdleSilence2580
My Image Dynamics CTX6.5CS's I have sound amazing! $160 from several sites and can handle 125 watts RMS no problem. I've heard some other owners say they run 150 to em with no problems either so they might be a little power hungry for some but it's not that hard to power them. I use to run Polks as well and although they sounded great and nothing was wrong with them, I just wanted to try something different with this build. But what type of amp will you be using and what type of vehicle? But what type of amp will you be using and what type of vehicle? I second this. I believe sonicelectronix has the Image Dynamics Chameleon CXS for under $200. You can make an offer and grab em for like $180ish. Those get my vote. You definitely won't be disappointed. The midbass is excellent, and the tweeter is the same as the higher end XS components.
