ncc74656
I am looking at buying a FI sub tomorrow and am looking between fibl or fiq. i see the Xmax of the fiq is more than the BL so that means the Q has more travel space and should be able to push more air and thus be louder and more oriented to SPL applications. this goes against what the website states and what others on forums have stated. where am i going wrong in my conclusions? thanks. Robert8252
False. The Q is not designed as a spl speaker. They will get loud but from what I've seen a bl will be louder in the same setup. The Q sounds great though and kills the lows. bkolfo4
As stated, Xmax is not the only factor related to loudness. What enclosure do you plan to use, and how much power? What type of music do you listen to the most? Do you want really strong low frequency response, or just SPL regardless of the frequency it occurs? Both subs are awesome, but they were designed for different goals. ncc74656
i want more frequency than a kicker L7 12 and louder as well. i think the BL covers that. i was just confused by the large xmax on the Q series Quote nothing, gutted
Joe X
Maybe you should rephrase the "i want more frequency than a kicker L7 12" part.
john253a
The fiq15 will easily do that in the right box Both louder and 1000x better sq If you just want better sq, not the same as q, but better then l7 but louder then q and l7 then the bl15 is you sub Edited July 3, 2012 by john253a

So what you're saying is that you want a sub with a broader frequency response curve, that also has more output SPL wise yes? L7s are garbage, they sound like shit in everything I've heard, i only know of one setup that was tolerable, and i actually designed the box for the shop that did the install for the guy. Either the Q OR the BL will both sound better and be louder than your L7, if you build the box right.....Currently I'm debating between Q and BL myself, then I'm debating between keeping trunk and going with a single 12, or saying fuck the trunk, i havent needed it in the past 3 years now, always have had 2 12s back there, and go with a single 15 Quote woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port...
