metalhead2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I am putting a 1200 watt amp in and was wondering if i need to have that fused or not. if so what size fuse should i be running?
sprkn_ranger Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 You need to fuse the positive wire goin to the amp. And it need to be fused according to the wire's rated capacity. Also you need I put the fuse close to the battery so you have the least amount of un-fused wire as possible. The whole point of fusing is to protect the wire from being overloaded incase of a short. I have a 150A inline fuse in my dist block for the line that goes to my BRZ (since the BRZ doesnt have its own fuse it seems) Under the hood, for my main run, 300A i think. woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port... Tim Lam Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 yeah fuse the line going from the positive battery to the amp. have the fuse as close to the battery as possibly(like 6" away) and for a 1200watt amp i would suggest a 120amp fuse.
