TrentonLong
maybe it is just smelling because it is in the brake in period. don't play it full tilt if it is not broke in yeat. Here a little video to show why it is important to let them brake in. Edited July 16, 2012 by TrentonLong

Real96SS
track 1 to find head unit white is a Kenwood KDC352u (i belive) thats 40hz at 0db (just to confirm) deck doesnt clip on EQ all at 0. so then i turn bass to -8 mid to -4 and treble is at 0. i go to my amps, turn my gain knob (not bass boost) to half and use track 5 40hz at -10db i believe. . . and usually i back it down a hair, so its more than -5db but not quite -10. . sub isnt hooked up when i do so and voltage sits around 13.45 when i do it You did a couple things wrong in those steps you just posted. Edit- Damn Ninja N8 got to it before me Edit- Also just noticed i hit the 1000th post mark Edited July 16, 2012 by Real96SS Quote Vehicle 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche(Co-Co) DNX9980HD 6 Team Fi 15's(King Edition) 3 DC 9k's 8 Nendo PWX 8's 4 Custom Steg 4" Super Tweeters 1 DC Audio 175.4 1 DC Audio 90.4 Rockford 360.3 3 DC Power 370xp Alts(Externally regulated) 21 D1600's 2 D4800's All SMD RCA's AudioTechnix Deadner Viper Alarm My YouTube- http://www.youtube.c...NG?feature=mhee Link to buildlog- http://www.stevemead...4-15s-2-dc-9ks/ Link to UBL- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/165059-ublkings-avalanchecoco-new-build-starting8-king-edition-15-team-fis-in-a-wallyes-a-wall/
Mikey Bates
the only thing i see is to keep the eq flat until after i set the amp gains. . . ive done it both ways and haven't noticed a difference in gain on the amp. . everything else i did seems to be correct after work im going to switch my wire. and DD1 it all again but i mean ive done it like 50 times to see if i did it wrong so :/ Edited July 16, 2012 by Mikey Bates
OrionStang
everything flat. That measns bass and treble at '0', not -8 and -4. Leave your gain all the way down. Play the tone you want, and slowly increase the gain until the clip light comes on. Then back it down a notch. Are you using a remote bass knob? Are your speakers hooked up when you are setting the amp? Should not have subs hooked up. Is your car off? Should be off. BigPimpin91
I'm not surprised you get coils hot using a -10db tracl. You're leaving a FUCK TON of head room to send you amp into clipping. Set your amp with at 0db track and you should see an improvement. It won't get as loud at the same volume level but at least you know for 100% sure that you can't reach clipping even on a 0db tone.
