Is this enough electrical to run 5k+

Recommended Posts

Just as reference for you, I have burped that exact amp at 1 ohm on a D3400 and HC2000, stock 160 amp alt wired at 1 ohm, dropped to 12.5 and stayed there. Same truck same electrical with a D9 wired at 1 ohm with music playing clipped hard, drop to 12.0 and keep dropping after a minute of continual play. Unclipped stayed at 13.0 all day. SO....with what you have listed you are fine.

At 1 ohm yes but .5 ohm you would have some voltage drop into the 11s.

I would listen to this guy. Something tells me that he knows just a little bit about electrical systems.

Speaking from experience, with a 260a alt and wanting to run a dc 5k at .5 ohm, you will want 3-4 XP 3000s in the back. You dont have to charge them every night, but I would charge them once every few weeks.

Thanks CJ, these damn kids and there .5 ohm, real men run at .25 ohm :peepwall:

LOL I cant say shit, I am going to be running my 3.5ks at .5 each. But im also not asking how to do it. And you are damn right about not switching to 14v batteries. I regret ever doing it, but am not stuck with 10 of them and I need more. At this point I might as well just keep going with them since I already have them. It is nice getting that extra power from your amps, but you end up paying more in the end because of the size of the battery bank that it requires to sustain voltage with the 14v batteries. I believe I read somewhere that XS says the 14v and 16v batteries are good for 1500w burps and 3000w daily. I call bs on that one.

dc derrick ran like 200 amp alt and i think 1, 1400,4 hc2400s and it could hardly maintain in the 12s on a stetsom 7k.

At like .25-ohms full tilt on music. Lol

I'm thinking of maybe going with the crescendo bc5500d @ 1 ohm and a 500 watt class ab @ 4 ohms on a singer 260A (150A idle) 1x xs d3400 under the hood and 2-3 xs xp2500s in the rear. 2x runs of knu kollausus pos and neg from front to rear. Think with that kind of electrical I'll be able to maintain in a daily driver setup. Obviously won't be listening at full tilt all the time.

Just curious, would a Mechman 250 alt, D3400 under the hood and 2 D3100s in the rear be able to run the DC 5k at 1 ohm decently? Of course there would be voltage drop, but this is mainly for just daily driving and want to make sure I have the electrical first.
