T-shaped slot port question

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, with a slot port running down the middle and the branching off left and right at the back, does the width stay the same or is it 1/2 the width? I've always done 1/2 the width and now I'm not sure.

So in my sketch-up the port shrinks to 3 1/8" at the back, or does it stay 6 1/4 on both sides:

Input a V on the back wall in the middle when I can. Just make sure the port is not restricted to less than 1/2 width at the corner. You can also cut the end of the port walls at a 45 to take away the point where it turns.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

You got it right. you don't need to add the V thing, but it does help.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

More box builds

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

I'm with captain stupid.

Yeah just not sure about a kerf with a 2" radius. Might be kind of tight.

I did my kerf with a 2" radius. It was a little tight but it came out fine. Check out my build log in my sig for pictures.
