TrentonLong Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 My brother is running my dual 400 amp and sony xplod sub, And he is running a boss 900 rms sub and a 400 rms pioneer amp. The amps start turning on and off. He dose not what to get a bigger alt! So what can i do to up the voltage and amps? Would an Isolator work? Guest Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 nothing should be turning off with small amps like that. its more than likely the following: 1) loose grounds. or grounds that arent bolted to thick metal like a strut tower, with the paint sanded off around where the lug touches the metal 2) loose power wire. or the connection at the battery, or fuse holder, or the amp itself 3) loose wire lugs on ground or power wire 4) frayed wire on the + and/or - power terminals on the amp that are touching each other. a single strand of wire touching + and - together can cause this. 5) messed up amp settings, like gain, bass boost (which should be off), etc edit: x2 on what sword said. subwoofers may be wired too low (or maybe the wrong way) for the amps to handle.

Are you even using the right size wire for your -Sony amps- I know how to wire it all right, it is the power, It all works but when i set the gains on both amps about less then 1/3 up the lights on the amp go on and off! Tomorrow i will use the multi meter it and see just to make sure it is, There is no upgrades to the electric system at all.BTW it is a dual amp not a sony, lols The fuses are 50 amps and 30 amps. The truck is a chevy 1500 so idk what the alt output is. AND the truck was off when it did it so could that be the reason why it did it?
