LOL: Know Your Rights: Law Student Backs Down Cop..

Recommended Posts

Also, in most states if you're carrying a weapon you HAVE to provide ID to as the police officer said insure you are not illegally carrying. Stupid ME and not having laws to protect officers and people alike... Lol

thankfully in georgia a cop has to haver a legitimate reason to ask me to provide identification. if im carrying my handgun (which i do openly) he has to have reasonable suspicion of a crime to ask for my carry license.

basically, it has to be more than a tier-1 encounter for identification or license. an officers "hunch" or "public concern" means absolutely nothing in georgia.

And you support this? If you're not doing anything illegal and have your licenses than why would you? A person who is up to no good essentially could walk around and without PC a cop can't do shit... It's absolutely idiotic to not enable police to screen people carrying firearms in public areas.

It's absolutely idiotic to enable police to screen people carrying firearms in public areas... Legitimate suspicion is one thing, a call from a scared citizen is another. That's like me saying that guy over there is too tall, or he is being ignorant with his posts and I'm scared, ID him. It's the joy of being American, the right to bear arms. If you don't like it, go to Canada.. Or England.

^^^ beautiful. And this is why I am an NRA member. It's my right. Not a very free country when you have to show your id to every dickhole cop that wants to stop me. Especially when it's fucking legal! Nuff said

Cableguy, stopping a person solely on the ground that the individual possesses a gun violates the Fourth Amendment. This only matters if your state is legal to open carry. Some states only allow conceal carry, while others only allow open carry, some both, such as Wisconsin.

If you are in an open carry state, or plan to open carry, this little read is great info, and you should read it SEVERAL times before even thinking about open carry.

Remember ANYTHING YOU SAY CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU IN A COURT OF LAW, BUT CANNOT BE USED FOR YOU!! Just like your Miranda rights are not there just to protect you. Just giving the cop your name enables the cop to pull up your record find out previous information about you that may have nothing to do with the incident at hand..

Another good video, its long and the guy is a fast talker but lots of info.

Here is a link to the best forum for open carry, and concealed carry. All state laws, statues, etc are listed, sub forums for every state.

how many times have you ever seen a criminal, bank robber, murderer, and such walking around in town with an exposed weapon properly holstered while they are going about their normal daily business?

criminals hide their shit, not walk around with it properly holstered and exposed.

Lol, that is very true. I don't live in an open carry state so I'm not too familiar. But just the thought of people carrying around firearms and not being 100% sure if they are within their legal right just doesn't sit in my stomach well.

You NRA guys... Why are you so opposed to having to provide simple ID? It takes 12 seconds to run your name and you're on your way.

Have you ever seen or known someone who wasn't licensed open carrying I guess is more my question.

i shouldnt have to prove myself when i have done nothing.

and yes, i have seen plently of people carrying who werent licensed. all you have to do to see it is go to a state that has constitutional carry, or go somewhere that you might find people deer hunting.

fwiw - there are actually police officers who as private citizens would not qualify for the level of licensing that i have, yet they somehow get trusted more than i do. there are police officers who as private citizens, are not legally allowed to own a gun at all. i just dont get it. i have met tighter requirements than the police have to, and i have had more training than the police have (personally funded, georgia has no training requirement), yet i am somehow not to be trusted because i dont have some cutesy ass little piece of cheap plated metal on my shirt.

OK ... I want to make this clear about myself ...

I'm from South Mississippi ... I have plenty of guns ...

I keep a gun in my personal vehicle open for a police officer to see ... nothing wrong with that, we all know this ...

However, but company rules, I'm NOT allowed to carry a weapon in my company vehicle or on my person at ANY time while at work ...

Now ... You may know your laws, but you do not have to be rude to ANY police officer like that guy did, thats why theres so much fucking crime in this world today ...

people called the law to check him out because he was walking down the street with a loaded weapon, and the police went to investigat the situation, as they should ...

That guy (NO ONE can deny this) was a complete dick to that officer in front of everybody ... How is that being a law abiding citizen ??? Guess I just have more respect for people and their safety than most ...

you mean to tell me that ANYONE in this world is allowed to toat a loaded weapon in the street whenever they want ?? What are we, in western TV land ??

Police are here for our protection and Yes, I do support your right to bear arms, but I have nothing to hide when a police officer ask for my ID for suspision ... Yes Sir, that fire arm is registered to me ... here's my proof ... simple !!!

Now some gang banger is going to see this and think he's doing things all wrong and start having their guns out in the open and when a cop shows up to get that drug selling dick off of the street he going to start yelling out the 5th adminment and politely tell the cop to fuck off and thre is nothing anyone can do about it ...

Yes, I do believe in the right to bear arms ... but I also belive in gun control too ...

from the sound of that guy, he's probably never fired a gun in his life ...

EDIT: A man thats walking around with a loaded weapon (pistol) out in the open at all times for no aparent reason ... I do not want that guy around me or my family ... that is an accident waiting to happen ...

For the most part, I agree with this

However, I've NEVER seen a NRA guy arrested for robbing, drugs, or using their weapons with intent to harm another person ...

Their weapons are primarily for protection, collection, marksmanship, and hunting (there is more, but you know what I mean) ...

Most people (thats not in law enforcement) you see with a weapon out in the open most likely have intentions to use it in some unlawful way or another ...

Here in the South, we trust out officers to protect out families ... and they do their jobs VERY well cause I work with them on a DAILY basis ...

If you're doing nothing wrong, you've nothing to lose by showing id. Im curious why so many gun people are A: against the police, and B: so backwards and insecure.

I have a concealed carry, and I do carry. I just dont have the need to show off and pretend to be billy badass.

Im also not scared of the police, nor do I have some silly "nuh uh, you cant catch me, I is too smart for uuuuuuu" attitude.. Then again im not 12

And cableguy.. You sure dont speak for everyone in the south. I trust MYSELF to protect my family, not the police, who are spread too thin to be of any real use in an emergency

How do you consider Oklahoma in the south ... When I drove to Oklakoma for 2009 USACI World Finals, I had to drive west, then north ... a LONG ways !!!

So no ... I was not speaking for you Sir ...
