logspace Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 When I lay my seats down, the 6X9 speaker get much quieter. I believe they behave as though they are in free air and there is some wave cancellation going on. Should I seal them with MDF board? Also when I have subs in the trunk, would the pressure move the 6x9 cones and defeat the point of having them? would having them sealed help with this? any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

The subs won't affect the speaker noticeably so don't worry about that. As for the speaker sounding quieter, you got me. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?

As for the speaker sounding quieter, you got me. ive seen a set of rockford t16x9 where the cone was torn and the tweeter broke off from the air movement of the setup in the trunk pushing the 6x9 cone to far. of couse this was with a single 15 on roughly 1.5k where the port was right below the 6x9 that took more damage with the back seat up so the air was looking for somewhere to go. im sure sealing them off wont hurt to try. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
