SnowDrifter Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Well one more thing i going to have 2 dual 2 ohm subs Hold up... going to have? Why not order dual 4's then? Make your life a lot easier. Since you are on a budget, you are going to spend more money and effort trying to run at .5 than you would finding a decent yet cheap amp that will do 1 ohm. All the amps that will do .5 ohm have to be build well enough to handle it. Great amps, but not within your budget and wouldn't be right for your needs. Plus running .5 puts quite a bit of extra strain on your electrical which if you haven't put it together yet is $$$ ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
notorious97200 Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Find a used amp to run at 2 Ohms with the power you need. Alpine pdx 1200, Kicker zx 1500,...etc or 2 small (750-1000 w rms) 1 Ohm stable amps that you will be able to link. That 0.5 Ohm thing is not a good solution for music, for burps it's ok. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
tacomaguy1 Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 running above .5 is for bitchez Team Flex Issues
NT_Hardcore Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 a lot of ppl run .5 daily lol. its not a big deal
notorious97200 Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 running above .5 is for bitchez Bitchez will run their amp longer than yours ! And will save money. I can't believe you have the same sound quality at 0.5 Ohm, than at 1 Ohm or above. Everybody is not in spl comps everyday ! they usually listen to music and only tones at tuning frequency ! OP, do what you want, but don't be mad when our amp blows or if it doesn't sound good enough for you ! black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. aerickson Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 But running at .5 on a budget can be hard.
SnowDrifter Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 BRZ1700 is 1200@2 ohms Hardcore: The people who run at .5 daily know the risks and also use good equipment. We are trying to set up OP with a reliable system that won't crap out on him - which WILL happen if he is running .5 with a budget amp. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
