Captain Stupid
Looks like 350 in material to me. You going to do a flood coat? $350? Not even close. I'm using 3 gallons of SB-112 at $200/gallon and I may need to pick up a fourth gallon for the flood coat. Plus two sheets of 1.25" MDF at $80 each and somewhere between 25-35 yards of carbon fiber at $40/yard. Plus incidentals that I won't even bother trying to calculate. That comes out to about $1800-2500 in material depending on the total amount of CF used and whether I need to pick up that fourth gallon of resin or not. Please stop making me think about how much money I am blowing on this project. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

Captain Stupid
honestly....seems like a BIG waste of money. whatever floats your boat but honestly i dont see all the cf/resin 1. looking nice at all. 2. being worth the money put into it that can be achieved with 50 bucks in materials I agree 100% on the BIG waste of money. It is. It absolutely is. But it's also a fun experiment. There are millions of people who think our entire hobby in general is a BIG waste of money, but to each his own. It isn't like I went out and bought $2000 in materials to make this box. The CF and two gallons of the resin were sitting in my warehouse for the last 9 months doing me no good just collecting dust after buying them for some projects that never got off the ground. Sure, I could have sold the stuff on Craigslist for maybe $1000, after being asked a million stupid questions via text and haggled by every idiot on CL, but I really don't need the money or the headache. So I decided to DO something with it. And as far as it looking nice? That is a matter of opinion, but I can tell you that the pictures don't do it any justice. Seeing CF in person is waaaaay cooler than seeing pics of it. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ
