Thanks guys. I appreciate the encouragement and kind words. No one is more excited to see this thing done than me! AND I can't wait to hear this thing slam also! I hope it sounds as good as it looks.

Well, here it is Saturday and I've finally finished up the inside of the box!! I'll begin the outside this evening and can hopefully finish it tomorrow!! YAY!! Full carbon fiber reinforced box in under a week!! What I did today was reinforce all bottom plate joints and corners with four layers of scrap CF pieces, then lay another four layers on top of that on the entire flat area of the base plate.

I just went through my second gallon of resin and it looks like it will take another gallon to finish this project. At $200 per gallon wholesale, this is some spendy shit! Just glad I'm not paying the $300 per gallon that it retails for. BTW, for anyone interested in the properties of the resin I am using, it is made by System Three and is called SB-112. It is a great resin for use with carbon fiber in an automotive application because it has almost no curing odor, is an epoxy, and has a completely clear, UV protectant finish. That means it won't ever yellow or flake as typical resins are known to do over time and exposure to light. And no amber hue like most resins. Another great thing is that you can recoat at any time without the need to scuff the surface, which makes it ideal for a multi-step process like a speaker box.

So, here's the pics........

I took a big pile of scraps of carbon I had from other projects and used it for the reinforcing strips. I knew I was saving those cutoffs for good reason.....

Here are a couple of pics of the corner reinforcing process. First, I used the roughest pieces I had, then I transitioned into the better quality pieces for the top two layers.....

Now, with all of the corners reinforced, I laid down the flat parts and can call the inside of the box done. Two hours from now, I will head back to the shop to start on the outside.

It's all dark inside now!.....

Last, but not least, the port floor as it will look from the rear of the box. This is the part people will see when I open the hatch door to the back of the Escalade. The carbon you see on the vertical walls is just single layer at this point. Still has four layers to go on the outside of the box, so I wasn't too concerned about my brush sheddings staying in the resin. Also, I know the floor piece doesn't look 100% right, but that is because I still have one final piece to put in that will cover all of the seams. That will be one of the last things I do and it will overlap the CF that goes over the outside of the box. That's why you see seams right now, but you won't later when things are finished......

if the car was to be rolled down a mountain then hit by a train and ran over by a tank .... ( with the car empty of course ) ... that box would still be in perfect condition !
