This will hopefully be a quick build. I should hopefully be done this weekend. The vehicle is a 2008 Silverado reg cab, short bed. This is not my vehicle, it is owned by the company that I work for, but I drive it more than I do my own truck so it needs a little bass.

The build will consist of a PAC OEM-1 so I can keep the factory head unit. I have had good luck with other PAC products (I used the OS-4, SWI-JACK and the TR-7 modules in my other truck) so I figured this would be a decent piece. This was also the only piece of this build that I had to buy. I had the power cables and RCAs laying around and I traded things I had for the sub and amp. Gotta love cheap, right?

The sub will be one Sundown SA8 V.2. I traded a sub I had laying around for two of these mean little effers. The other one will go in a temporary system in my personal truck. Anyway, pics of the subs:

The amp is a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D. I traded an old alpine headunit I had for this. It's brand new in the box. The seals were broken and the plastic bag the amp comes in were gone. Only powered up once when I tested it. Normally I'm not really a Hifonics fan, but I just couldn't pass up the deal.

For legal reasons I can't post a picture of the outside of the truck, but all you need to know is it's a very basic work truck lol.

I'm working on a box design right now. I'm trying to fit the sub behind the passenger seat and still be able to carry a passenger if I have to. It may not work out that way though so it may end up being a regular box stuffed behind the seat that I can take out if anyone rides with me.

That's all for today, I'm going to start this tomorrow night after work and hopefully finish by Saturday evening. Also, I abso-fu*king-lutely hate taking pictures while I work, but I want to be more active on this forum and in this community in general so I'm using this small build to get practice doing so.

Little update:

I got everything installed in the truck, but I'm having some issues with the PAC module. I have almost no output to the amp, and it's mostly mid-bass. I'm gonna keep tweeking it and try to make it work but I'm just not sure yet.

Here is the OEM-1 module mounted. it sits perfectly behind the AC controls. Plus it has a remote turn-on lead so I didn't have to tap into the factory wiring. Bonus!!

I know I might get crucified for this, but it's the only way I could do it because I'm not allowed to drill into the body of this truck seeing as how it's not mine. The amp is under the seat. The part you can't see is at the back there is a stud coming off the floor that is keeping the amp from sliding forward during hard braking.

On to the box. I need to thank john253a for this design. It wasn't designed specifically for me, but during some research on here I stumbled across it and it fit my needs better than what I originally had planned. It's 0.62 cu ft tuned to 32.29Hz. I may build another just like it for my personal truck if it sounds good enough.

Haha thanks!! It's a corporate owned vehicle that they never see, so what they don't know wont hurt 'em, right? (lol kidding). I checked with the company before doing any of this and as long as I don't alter any body panels or the drivability of the vehicle in any way and as long as I can carry a passenger and remove the system fairly quickly if need be, it's okay.

Thats 3/4 MDF right? What size of round over bit did you use? Box is nice and clean.

Yeah, 3/4" MDF. I used a 1/2" roundover and I set my router to dig a little deep. Just enough where the bit makes a line in the wood, then I sand the line off with my DA sander.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the props, but this build kinda went kaput. There were too many factors I was working against. The PAC not puting out the right signal was the big problem. Then the company stared talking about getting me a new car since this one has almost 200k miles on it . Thats been going on for over 3 months now so we'll see what happens there lol.

Another was this box ended up peaking around 30 Hz, which is way too low for my tastes. I built another one at .75 cu ft tuned to 35 Hz and then the sub was extremely peaky around 35. I went through 3 box designs (.62@ 32Hz, .75 @ 35Hz and .75 @ 38Hz) and and just decided I didn't really care for these subs. No matter what I tuned them to they would peak like crazy at that point, but everything else would be really quiet in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the subs sound good, but I just couldn't get that flat response that I like. I gotta get my comp fixed so I can install Bass Box Pro, then maybe I'll build a series 6th for one of them and see how I like that.
