rockFord_Expedition Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 The advice kranny has given is the same I would give. All I would add is if for some reason you keep some 4ga wire, don't fuse it above 150a Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire

TeamHT Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 One thing that needs to be clear, you fuse for your current draw, NOT the wire. What amp are you using? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
ewilliams5430 Posted September 9, 2012 Author Report Posted September 9, 2012 Hifonics hfi2000d Yeah I know hifonics but I got it from my friend REALLY cheap so I took it
CleanSierra Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 What kind of amp are you running that claims to need a 250amp fuse but only has 4ga inputs ? I'm thinking the same thing! My T1000 requires 150A and has 4 gauge inputs. I would think a TRUE 250A requirement would be an amp that truly gave 2500W. For 2500W 4 gauge is way too little to support the current. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 One thing that needs to be clear, you fuse for your current draw, NOT the wire. What amp are you using? I'm just curious on this comment. You just fuse for whatever the amperage requirements of the amp? So if it tries to pull 250A through 4 gauge wire, couldn't that just straight melt the jacket? Or is the idea that the fuse would blow before that happens, hence the reason for the fuse in the first place? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
