BUT then again, the "kicks" if you will. may just be the compliment you are looking for. They may set the box/console off. who knows. Obviously you are not intimidated by sanding, so paint them, and if it don't look good, then sand it down, and paint them the other color. my .02 take it for what you want. GL in your decision though.
