well, its time for another update again! ive got more progress pics to show you all. we got the front stage in and playing. it was a whole lot of tedious work, but is now functional.

first of all, i started out with an idea and some mdf. I wanted to keep the door pods the same theme as the box. I also wanted to base the shape of them off the port brace thats in the sub box.

my work area lol:

IMAG0441-1_zps59551b38.jpg

these are mean speakers!

IMAG0443-1_zps40e715a7.jpg

IMAG0444-1_zps3fde332c.jpg

so i ended up with one "jig"...

IMAG0445-1_zps24a32974.jpg

and i picked up some 1/4 inch plexiglass

IMAG0446-1_zpsa4a306b6.jpg

IMAG0447-1_zpsd6450da2.jpg

and a flush trim router bit

IMAG0448-1_zps2f8beb8c.jpg

and a whole lot of plastic dust later,

IMAG0450-1_zps97394bc4.jpg

i ended up with 2 of these:

then i cut out the center of the jig and ended up with this:

up until this time. i was using the router freehand and tracing it around my jig that was setup on some sawhorses. so i decided it was time to build a router table so that way i would have a flat, proper working surface to work with. it also serves as a dead mans table that is the same height as my table saw. I even put it on some casters so it can be easily moved out of the way. all 4 casters also have brakes on them so it will stay put when i am sliding wood across it. I need to get some better pics of the router table. i also built a fence for it that accommadates a vacuum cleaner attachment to cut down on the dust. My table saw also has a dust port that helps soo much when cutting stuff! anyways, back to the pics.

This is a pic of the router table, and i have made a few more copies of my jig.

in the future, i will order more diamond plating and cut it to size. it will go on the back of the door pods like this. i just dont have enough for both of them right now, so i am just going to use black bedliner instead.

IMAG0789-1_zps9e898182.jpg

all of them together:

IMAG0800-1_zps7144be44.jpg

IMAG0801-1_zpsd3a044b5.jpg

this is one of the pods complete. i used roll on bedliner inside and out. I also cut a back panel with the outside of the jig that fits on so that all the sound is contained in the pod itself and not the door.

we also mouted the 4 channel amp here on the doghouse because the storage piece was so shitty and falling apart.

well thats the progress for now. thanks for looking!

yes. when i get the diamond plate in, i am going to light them up white. the coolest part about that is that the outside edge of the plexi is going to glow all the way around because i didnt paint it black. it should look sick!

took it to the local car show today to show it off and put it on the meter. the crowd REALLY liked it!!

IMAG1122_zps8be6d7a7.jpg

it did a 146.1 with little to no tuning, not sealed off, and with only one d3100 and 1 run of 0 gauge. we are going to seal it off, brace the roof, stop some flexing, upgrade the electrical. that should put us up a few more dbs.
