rocking.that.eclipse
I had my car taken in recently to do some work. When i picked it up the guy told me that I wired my VCM wrong for some reason. I fallowed the directions that Mechman sent me so I don't think I was wrong. A couple days after I got my car back the check engine and SRS light came on at the same time. I was going wait a little longer to take it back to my mechanic but now I have horrible voltage. I am running around 12.9 when at cruising speed. The only time it goes into the 14s is when I accelerate. When I am holding my speed it is right around 13. I was wondering what this could be from? I read that my SRS light can come on from my voltage being between 12.4 and 12.9 while running. I have an 2001 eclipse
rocking.that.eclipse
I just checked the VCM that came with the alt and no cuts or shorts in that

Lbox88
So..... you put in the new alt, wired it via Mechman directions and everything works. Billy-Bob dumbshit mechanic gets a hold of it, tells you you did it wrong so he fixed it....... And now you have problems? rocking.that.eclipse
Idk if he fixed it or not. He said that if i brought it back to him he would fix it for free. He said it was throwing an alt code when he fixed my emmisions shit and some bs valve in the gas tank. Im gonna take it to them again and see what they say. I always go to the same place and they havn't fucked me before so Idk. I think it might have something to do with the srs light but im not sure
matt14
What did you tap into for the VCM? rocking.that.eclipse
It said to plug the spade terminal into the 2nd opening to the right on my stock alt plug. I did that and didn't have any problems before. Also when I got my car back the vcm was touching the exaust. Checked all the wires and none are melted. I don't have a dmm at college but when I get home I'm gonna check the output at the alt
Lbox88
if it worked before and now it doesn't and he's telling you he fixed it as he gives you the car back, then yeah they fucked it up. Grab the Mechman directions and a flashlight and see what they did. You still gotta bring your car up on the 13th, Dave too we have other work to do than mess around with electrical. EDIT: and damn, if I wasn't in Delaware I would drive down after work tomorrow and see what we could find. rocking.that.eclipse
I will be out the 13th for sure. If I don't get this fixed im ripping it out till i get everything electrical fixed. I don't wanna fry another amp. I'm gonna send them both into db-r if this problem isn't fixed. I might have the wire by the 13th too so we may be able to run that but I doubt I will have the batts. Def wanna get that murdermat in and see how much it helps
AMI CUSTOMS
Generally it is the regulator when you have varying voltage like that with rev. Sounds to me like the mechanic possibly tried to rewire to get it to drop the alt code, which he should have left alone because that is normal to get an alt code logged when installing a VCM. It is a body code, which means it doesn't do shit, so doesn't affect anything. Most likely when rewiring the VCM he smoked the reg which isn't hard to do if you are ate up with the dumbass Edited September 29, 2012 by AMI CUSTOMS Quote TEAM SOUNDQUBED -- TEAM SOUTH TEAM S.O.B. - Founder & Captain 3x Streetbeat World Record Holder 2017 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2016 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem/2nd Adv 4/2nd Xtreme 4 2015 MWSPL 2nd place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2014 USACI 2nd place Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db 2014 MWSPL 2nd place Xtreme 4 - 144.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Street Q+ - 162.8 db 2013 MWSPL 3rd Kaos2 & 4th Xtreme 4 2011 USACI 2nd place MOD 1001-2k - 160.0 db 2011 MWSPL 4th place: Adv3 - 157.8 db, Kaos2 - 150s db, Xtreme4 - 140s db 2010 ARSPL 1st place 501-750 - 160.3 db Arkansas loudest Best score to date 164.4 db - Termlab Outlaw Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db MWSPL on Dash Legal door open (Music) - 162.5 db Sealed on dash Legal (Music) - 161.1 db - Termlab THE BLACK NASTY CURRENT BUILD & FAB The Black Nasty (6) 15 Rebuild Log 2012 (4) 15 Walled Sierra Build Log Evo X build log Facebook page The Black Nasty
