revoracing247
really nice wood work man. thanks! hope learning these skills now help me out later on. and here's more updates! got the whole box resigned and now starting to sand it down. after a brief sanding i thought it was ready and taped off the port cause i was gonna do white primer for the white port and then black primer for the rest of the box. and then sorry this stuff is still old but i had a weekend trip to be a pit mechanic for my friend with one of his races. and well after i came back from my trip and had a second look at my box from the break i noticed that there was a lot of texture left in the box. so i decided to do two things. i decided i needed to sand a lot more and get all that texture out and i also decided to use white primer on the whole box so i sanded down the primer i just did on the port again the texture so after that, its time to finally set up the painting booth! and then here's the box with 1 layer of primer on it and then here's after a few coats on the sides i could get and then my step mom was using some sono tubes for some ceramic projects she likes to do so i borrowed them for the night and had a little fun with the 8" calculated it out and this 4' tube is tuned to 70Hz and it made it a lot louder then just free airing the sub. revoracing247
alright so in the process of trying to flip the box over by my self to sand the other side. i accidently did a little damage to my favorite curve area on my box i threw some more primer on it and sanded it down some. hopefully it won't show too bad in the final coats. there was also another spot right on the other side that i accidently hit :/ and well after wet sanding it and trying to dry it off as much as i could.... im pretty happy at the moment. can't wait to put black on it! but before that i looked at my port and pealed off my masking stuff and noticed there was a huge line where the primer stopped. so i went back to sanding and got it all smooth and ready for paint. before: after: and now im torn, not sure if i should leave the new masking on when i do the color or if i should take it off and let the over spray go into the port. im taking if off when i do gloss for sure just not sure whats the best path right now. if anyone has any suggestions! let me know! and also got back from the nwspl mini meet and it was tons of fun! it's my first meet and well it was a blast. got to hear my first 150+! lol and also got the type e's in my truck metered. 2 10" apline type e's on 500W rms in a ported box tuned to 36Hz... im happy with it. also i figured out that my alt only pushes like 42amps at like 2K rpms lol anyways, fun day. here's a short vid i threw together of the few short clips i shot. Remeber my FIRST experience with anything above 140db........ it kinda changed me a bit lol from that point you're hooked for ever. it was a little sad being in my truck giving a demo(ish) and not being able to tell if it was my system turned up a little bit or if it was the other guys giving demos like 10ft away. revoracing247
alright so i think i might be finally done with laying down color! and man i ran into some bump along the way. anyways so i painted the whole back side of the box and the front with no problem but then i decided i needed to do another can of black gloss on the front and well right towards the end of the can this happened. i think it happened from the spray nozzle getting clogged but it made my nice pretty black all ugly! so i had to go back and grab my sand paper again and start wet sanding my nice pain i just laid down anyways after a whole night of carefully sanding and well after shooting more black and having it happen again in one spot and then more sanding and then more shooting black again (maybe now you can see why it's taken me weeks) this is the result and so now it was just time to paint the grey lines I think you have a bit of truck stuck in your mud bro ~Ford Ranger, ext cabKenwood DDX4701/0ga stinger wiring for big 31/0ga ofc flextech wiring 3 kinetik 800's AQ2200 @1ohm Sundown Audio X15 in a 27Hz tuned ported box LE BUILD LOG!!! revoracing247
so it took me about 4-5 hours to get this thin tapped of and ready for the grey. i used a razor blade and a cutting board and made this and then for the leds i made this and i have horrible hand writing if you didn't notice.... i know this won't look right side up in my truck but i plan on selling the box soon so i did it so it'd be right side up if someone layed it down in the back of a burb or something and then i had to make all these little triangles for the corners where the 45's would be part of the way through taping... and then got done trimming and getting all the lines right. then i tapped up the rest of the box.... and then i got the grey laid down. ANNNNNNDDDD well this is where things got interesting. i was planning on having glossy grey lines but i guess the paint decided it had other plans..... everything came out really textured and well, it's too far to turn back now and plus i like it some. there is some rough edges and a couple little spots it bled through some but for my first time trying to paint anything. im happy with it now i just have to wait for it to cure and then lay down the gloss. and we'll see how it looks then!
