Lower Drinking Age to 18 edited first post to state my argument

i really dont care if the drinking age lowers or not, i drink every now and then, but im turning 19 this weekend, all my friends are all older than me, Hell its not like i cant get alchole, shits easy, but i really dont care for it. Thats why i have a few 1/5ths and a half gallon in the closets that has been unopened since i cant remember when.

ugh no kid should be allowed to drink. just because other countries allow 16 year old drink dont mean US have to follow.. having them drink its a big risk.. kids that young dont think before doing things and drinking will make it worse

that argument is old. I didnt even speak of other countries bc people bring that up too much. I kept it within USA

I just find it funny that you can buy a house, own a car, get your ass put in jail, like you said FIGHT for your country. Yet you can drink... I'm 20 and don't drink because I think its a waste of money and I'd rather buy something else. But still you should be able to.

You can even smoke salvia or medical marijuana at 18.

I saw that today somewhere. "Liquor is legal and gets you violent and angry which usually causes fights and leads to deaths meanwhile the taco bell munchie weed is very illegal and just normally gives you the munchies?"

But Hunter, I'm all over the place with this topic. We are the only country that has 21 for the age of any and all liquor. That's the last thing we get, as we can do anything else at 18. Other countries is typically 18. Now you say you are keeping it in the USA. I agree that although others have it at 16 or 18 or whatnot, we don't have to. We're our own people. Then others have stated that more DUI's, more traffic fatalities, etc would happen. I am all for that (not accidents happening but that more would happen). Now... how could we prevent it? Honestly, I don't think we can. I mean some have said education. They don't know. Well, not sure about where most of this community went to school but my high school was aware. We knew everything that could happen. Get laid easily to being launched out of the windshield. We just weren't mature enough.

There are those who say 21 is the right age for mind development. Your mind is still developing until 23 or 24 and then slows down and continues to develop until your around 27. Or at least that was presented to me by my high school as we had a damn assembly about it. So if you go that route, technically the drinking age should be raised. And then there are those who say 18 year olds aren't mature enough. There are a few exceptions obviously, but I agree. Only problem I have with that, no matter what age, people aren't mature enough. I mean know why most young people vote for certain people? Cause of their name, race, party, something like that. Think not?

Now alright, that is 1-a girl making a joke about it, but 2-people truly are like that in America. So even at 21, people in general are more mature, but not entirely. I mean I guess being in the military made me see everything... the underage drinking, the violence, so on and so forth. Had one kid who would get drunk and tip over porta potties. Not kidding. Throw TV's off of 3rd floor balconies.

So by no means am I saying to get rid of liquor, cause all I'm saying... no matter the age? It's wrong. We're wrong for having it at 21 because other countries have it lower and in USA you can do everything except drink at 18. I mean why are you allowed to take a bullet for your country but you can't have a sip of beer? You're wrong for lowering it because it physically damages your mind and body, and would cause more accidents, more fatalities, more of everything of the sort.

And that's my 2 cents.

In all seriousness congrats on the grade. Sounds similar to what I do.. whip out a speech or essay in one sitting and annihilate it.
