Center Channel Build (Got some ?'s)

Recommended Posts

Hey whats up yall I am pretty new to Home audio and have recently gotten an interest to start building my own system from the center channel up. I got some premade JBL speakers now which will suffice until I can get the funds to build my own cabinets. Any I am looking to build a very small box of some kind to house either 2 or 3 tweeters. I got a few questions on this I will post below to try and make sense of them.

1. Can anyone recommend which tweet? I am looking to run 3 under my TV.

http://www.parts-exp...tnumber=279-060

2. Would I have to run one crossover per tweet or just one for all three tweets? How do I put crossovers on these tweeters if I want the box as small as possible to sit under my TV?

I found these crossovers but not sure if they will work.

3. Box dimensions I would like to keep the height under 6" and the length shorter than 18". Should I use polyfill behind the tweets? Also should the box just be a simple square/rectangle large enough to house the tweets and crossovers?

Thank ya'll for any help on this as I am either over thinking this or just getting lost really easy

What I was trying to accomplish was something for the center channel that I would bring out voices and the higher notes. Mainly while watching tv as I don't really like a whole lot of bass when I watch regular tv shows. I like the bass for watching movies or just listening to music.

Anyway what you recommend forthw center Chanel just to make everything a little more clear and crisp?

Most center channels I've seen have been midrange drivers ...

Like 2 to 4 4" or 5.25" drivers ...

Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co

Questions About Sound Quality ?? Try Here ... Sound Quality, What does it REALLY mean ??

"The Green Dickle" 1994 GMT400 Chevy "Phantom Dually"

Randal's 2007 Chevy Avalanche (we haven't named this one yet)

Dylan's "Brutal" 17 Chevy Cruze RS Hatch

I was looking to order a few things tonight so I might have another project for next weekend. I will put some midrange drivers for my center channel. I am thinking about 3 these. Also what kind of crossover may be needed for 3 of these?

Since I am doing midrange for my center channel what would be a good way to bring out the high notes?

Here is what I am working with. Honestly just a beginner system though. I am running 3 channels now (R, L, SL). Usually I only run 2 channels (R & L) but I inherited a pair of Kenwood speakers so I am just testing one to see how it sounds. I am not going to keep the kenwood hooked up so I will only be running (R, L, & Cent). I am running the receiver on 3.1 instead of 5.1 since I am only using 3 chanels.

I got 2 of these JBL's in each front corner:

The receiver I am using (Orlin Ross OR860). Guessing it isnt really putting out that much power to each channel:

One of these crossovers for 3 of the midrange drivers? I am totally confused on the crossover part of it.

Or crossovers that are a little higher such as these?

I also got an old Onkyo TX-SV343 A/V receiver I could use if that would be better than the Orlin Ross
