Captain Stupid
I understand about the recones. I was really saying it just to hammer the point home about a sub that can actually handle the power. Seems silly to me when guys say a sub will handle x amount of power and then they talk about how they reconing. Obviously it didn't "handle" the power very well if it needs a recone every so often. I'd rather a redone is a rare anomaly than a regular occurrence. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

It's really hard to find a single sub to handle 6k reliably though. to be fair. the 4" coils can take that kind of power, but how much mechanical abuse will that sub take too ya know? I mean how long/hard it's played at a time has role's in it as well. As cody said, if you're responsible any of the 4" coil 18's should manage 1999 Ford ExplorerTeam Sundown Audio4th 2012 Db Drag WF Street Stock 150.8dbYoutube Channel!http://www.youtube.com/user/BoomyurblownOperation 156 No wall Build Log!http://www.stevemead...x/#entry2196123
Captain Stupid
I like the price on the FI SP4, and most of the specs other than the FS and SPL numbers. But something sounds fishy that a 4" voice coil subwoofer is rated at 2500 watts RMS. Why in the world would they rate it so far below its true capability? Seems to me that sandbagging to such a degree is silly. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

Slightly different motor structure but thats the biggest difference. Crossfire only rates their's at 2000 i think. 1999 Ford ExplorerTeam Sundown Audio4th 2012 Db Drag WF Street Stock 150.8dbYoutube Channel!http://www.youtube.com/user/BoomyurblownOperation 156 No wall Build Log!http://www.stevemead...x/#entry2196123

CortezDTV
????I didn't say anything about reconing.... I would have been pretty confident putting my 750.1 at. .35 on 1 18" n2, n3, sp4, crossfire v, aa mayhem, trantric 4" coil... there's a few others out there... clean power clean to dc lvl 6, dc lvl 5 Fi rates stuff to be reliable..... when you push any sub to 2x its rms you are bound to break something eventually.... But I give mine hell daily, and they take it, hence why I got bigger amps.... my n2s ate the 3500 clamped each.... Why don't you like the ts spects of the sp4? The fs and the sensitivity? Really? If u really want the all out just go buy the smd....... but still if you mess up anything, box, subsonic, lowpass filter set to hig anything like that you do run the risk of breaking tinsile leads burning coils... the little things that suck.... They are similar, but the SP4 is definitely superior to the Crossfire. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
