Chris Hammer Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 hmmm well with the dimensions given, WIDTH= 56" BOTTOM DEPTH= 17" TOP DEPTH= 15" HEIGHT=13 1/2" and with the price, im assuming it to be 1/2" MDF which comes out to be 5.97 cubes. ****(note idk if the calculator i used can be applicable to your application) so for those subs, i suggest a nice 32hz tuning. also for a SLOT port, i suggest a 3"x 12" port that would need to be ~12.5" long for a round/aero port(6 inches in diameter) it would need to be ~9.2" long hopes this helps! I'm looking at that box and no way is it 5.97 cuft, those dimensions are the total space the box consumes, not actual dimension of the enclosure. It's probably 1 - 1.3 cuft per side. you cant tell SHIT from that pic. for all we know it could be a shared chamber and that piece sticking back is part of the chamber spread across both chambers. so OP, before you do any cutting, some pics or VIDEO would help to determine the size of the box You're funny have u ever looked in a silverado that this box is for? 5.97 cubes my ass hell 2cubes is more realistic but probably stretching it. Even of using an aero port the only way u could port and have tuning low enough(without port noise) would be an external port. Oh an look at the sub cutouts. If they are 11" across roughly for twelves deductive reasoning can tell u pretty damn fast it's not close to 6 cubes. Tim Lam Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 no... i don't own a truck and my box is 39x17x19 and i get 6 cubes. i see a 56" width and it's not so unrealistic to me for it to be that big.
Chris Hammer Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 no... i don't own a truck That's meant to go under seats...I wouldnt trust those specs for crap. They list cvr15's under recommended subs but list it as a 12" sub enclosure. To the op. I'm sorry ur in for a disappointment. Your beat bet in an extended cab is to dump the seats forget about prefab and build a simple slot or aero port rectangle shaped box to get as loud a u can with what u have. SnowDrifter Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Porting a sealed box... I wouldn't do it. The airspace is too small. I mean, you could try it. But that wouldn't be representative of a real ported box and I don't think you would be happy with it ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Tim Lam Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 should have just got a ported kicker box.... that attributes to this thread in no way whatsoever... and OP, those CVR's like to be ported anyways so if u want to do it, don't let people tell you otherwise.

OP asked for advice Timmy seems odd you would pretty much tell him not to "let people tell you otherwise". So you don't fall under the other people category? Oh wait, I get it just dont listen to people that don't agree with you. CVR's like to be ported in BIG boxes with a substantial port . Not tiny boxes especially after you rob more for the "port" If he ports it he will have problems. He is probably making the minimum required airspace for a sealed box not even close to ported. No room to do an internal port...He is already too low on airspace...he would have to do an external port. Port noise... to tune low enough with the tiny amount of airspace he has he would have to have a small long port and would get some awesome port noise. To get away from the port noise he would have to make the port bigger..raising tuning creating a "fart" box...some sweet midbassbut whats the point of a sub without lows. So yeah OP..dont let "US" tell you not to port it.. Just find out for yourself. Just dont come back here asking why the sealed box you ported sounds like crap... KillaCam Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Just leave it, you start hacking up that box it's not going to end well. It's not the correct volume for a ported enclosure. The tuning will probably just be some mystery number. Just leave it or build a proper box. And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth..
