basshead5280 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 My voltage is weird to me. At rest(off) I'm at like 12.5. But when I start I only go to like 13.5-13.9. Never hit 14. And I don't have my subs on. I have a 117 amp alt. stock. And a large battery. Can remember brand but it's the gold edition from advance auto parts. 1000 ca. But why is my voltage so low? suckerfreebass Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 well i have stock alt an big 3 done in 0 guage an i hit about 14 when car is running maybe upgrade to 0 guage an if your gettin alot of voltage dropping upgrade alternator to ho alt or upgrade battery

Wicks Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 The Big3 is meant to reduce voltage drop when you're conducting current. Sitting idle, you may not notice much. You're probably sitting in the 13's because your CPU is setting your alternator at that level. To raise the voltage you could try a voltage boost module or aftermarket alternator with alternate controls (external regulator).
