Can AGM batteries be reconditioned?

So the PT lives the good life and has not been daily driven for just over 2 years now.

The onboard battery charger runs 24/7 float charging as needed.

Well this morning the charger gives an error code that there is a cell that won't accept a charge. Manual says to disconnect battery from car and run the reconditioning program, uses the word desulfation.

Is this something that should be done on AGM batteries?

Its an Optima Red underhood and 2 small Kinetik batteries in the back.

you need to isolate whic battery has the issue and either warranty it if available or replace.

yes they can once you know which battery is causing the issue.

reconditioning usually takes a bit of time, and you need a charger that is capable of doing it. I know some upper line Ctek chargers can do it.

DON'T use the desulfation mode if it's a CTEK! If you go through and read the manual, some charger's desulfation mode charge batts upward of 16V!

Its a Vector (Black and Decker) smart charger. Says it has seperate conditioning and desulfation.

After I find out which battery it is, I'll try the recondition only.
