little physics help

Recommended Posts

need a little help.

h(t) = v0 * t * sin(theta) - 1/2 * g * t^2

v(t) = sqrt( v0^2 - 2 * v0 * g * t * sin(theta) + g^2 * t^2)

x(t) = v0* t * cos(theta)

i need these as functions of time or t.

I know squat about physics..but if these are just math equations you are just looking for (f)t = insert equation here right??

i have v0, theta, but no time is given. i need the max height without a value for time. this iirc involves getting the derivative of the formulas which im lost on how to do. i know how to derive, but in cal 2 we dont apply them to physics so i am unsure and there is no room for error since im writing a matlab script utilizing these formulas.

to get the number/function i need, i need their derivatives set to equal zero, but im unsure of how to derive them like i said.

I feel like this mouse after reading your reply.......... lol I haven't been in a math classes in several years..although I went through Calc and Stats I guess its all lost to me now. Sorry if I got your hopes up..i honestly was going to try and help..but realized this shit just went way over my head when I went to look some of it up and refresh my memory.

got one.

h = (v0^2*sin(theta)^2)/(2*g)

From what Im reading on there and doing it in my head it looks right.

Taking (highschool, not a bs course) physics right now. I could comprehend half of what was going on. v0, what was that supposed to be? where h and v height and velocity or not?
