MrBigs63' Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 I am getting some stereo equipment ready to go into my dads 2000 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew cab. The stock holes are 6X8. I told dad that I could make some fiberglass stuff to fix them to a 6-1/2 opening, but he said that he doesn't want to do that if at all possible. I've been looking at the Infinity Kappa 6x8 coaxials, but reviews I have read say that they are way to bright. Is this true? If so can someone recommend me some high quality 6x8s, or should I just talk Dad into letting me fiberglass some 6-1/2s in there?
teamace24 Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Just recently put a 2 pairs of 6x8's on a friends build (02 crown vic). Rear set were infinity reference and front set where kicker ks series. Both sets were the newest model of each. Both sets getting around 50rms each from an alpine amp and i must say both get really loud with the infinity being a little more higher(bright tweeters) and the kickers being more midrange. Both sound great just figure out if you want a more bright(infinity loud) or more vocal(kickers). Also i would recommend getting the pioneers 6x8 as they are also very vocal and also have good tweets. 1st Setup(SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 Audioque SDC2.5 15 subs8.7 cubes at 37hz build DONEAudioque 1200d (Audioque 1200d Sold, similar performance to my ap1500)Diamond Audio Hex 6.5 Mids n TweetsCerwin Vega Exl 400 4 channel Bridged(also have MTX 4004 not being used)1 Run of power Knu Fleks 4 Gauge2 Cheap stock Battery setup2nd Setup (SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 15 Kicker cvx (maybe two SA 15 in future)7 cubes net tuned at 34hzAlphasonik Old school 1600rms (ap 1500d sold GREAT Budget amp)JBL 6.5 Power Series Components, Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 ways, and 2 Kicker KS Tweets (LOUD)Cerwin vega exl4001 run knu Fleks OFC 0 gaugeBig 3 done1 Odyssey 1500, 1 optima yellow top d31
TylerParrish Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Make some MDF cutouts that you can screw into the stock 6x8 location and cut a hole big enough to fit a 6.5 and a tweeter into the cutout. Or just a hole for a 6.5 and put the tweeter somewhere else. teamace24 Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Look in to these as well. Ive done a lot of various sizes and i like how those 6x8 6x9 get so loud easier on little watts and also have great bass response when amped or not. Look in to these you can find some that can be just as clear as 6.5: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-P8662-Two-Way-Series-Speakers/dp/B001GQ616O 1st Setup(SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 Audioque SDC2.5 15 subs8.7 cubes at 37hz build DONEAudioque 1200d (Audioque 1200d Sold, similar performance to my ap1500)Diamond Audio Hex 6.5 Mids n TweetsCerwin Vega Exl 400 4 channel Bridged(also have MTX 4004 not being used)1 Run of power Knu Fleks 4 Gauge2 Cheap stock Battery setup2nd Setup (SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 15 Kicker cvx (maybe two SA 15 in future)7 cubes net tuned at 34hzAlphasonik Old school 1600rms (ap 1500d sold GREAT Budget amp)JBL 6.5 Power Series Components, Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 ways, and 2 Kicker KS Tweets (LOUD)Cerwin vega exl4001 run knu Fleks OFC 0 gaugeBig 3 done1 Odyssey 1500, 1 optima yellow top d31
