Synchronized Distortion Detecting - Standard DD-1 and HV side by side (video)

Recommended Posts

i had a few people ask me to show the two of these products side by side so we decided to do 5 standard "blue" distortion detectors next to 5 "red" HV Distortion detectors. Also, when up against our old friend the O-scope, you can see what looks like a clean signal, really isn't. Even on a higher resolution screen. If this screen (on a more expensive scope) shows "clean" signal (or wave) imagine what your handheld oscope (with lower resolution) will show. Remember, by the time you see an actual clipped signal, it is already WAY to late.

of course, they are available @ http://www.wccaraudio.com/smd-install-tools-electronics.html

Seeing you with 10 DD-1's makes me jealous since I don't yet even have 1 DD-1! Lol, in a couple weeks I might though. Gonna save up to get both a DD-1 and CC-1.

Hey Steve not to hate ur product, I use the dd-1 on all my amps. It works like a charm and I haven't blown an amp yet.

The argument I hear a lot when people say the dd-1 is shit is that, if the O-scope says its clean, then it's a clean wave and the dd-1 limits how high you turn ur amps up bc it says distortion before actual distortion.

So I guess what would ur response be to people who say the DD-1 limits the actual clean power you could be putting out since expensive o-scopes with high res screens show a clean wave

Clipping and distortion isn't the same thing. Also just because a scope shows a nice rounded wave at the peak, doesn't mean it's not clipping on the way up or down the slope. 1% distortion is very minimal, and isn't detected on most LCD screams on oscopes. Personally I have a tip 440 oscopes and and upgraded dd1 to a HV version. I'll use the dd1 first every time. The scope now is just and overpriced dmm
