dixie Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Sorry in advance Im far from experienced on this. I have a big system on my boat. When boat is running amps are getting 12V+ reading. I play the system all day while the boat is NOT running. As the day passes use draws down the voltage from mid 12's. After many hours it will fall below 10v as the batteries drain. It pumps very loud and clear for a very long time but After many hours and reduced volts it finally starts to distort when voltage readings get into the 9's. Running the engine for a while fixes all. Q: How can I keep volts above 12v Or possiblly even more like 14 volts (increasing my output?) while the engine is off. system info: I have a big 3 Big alternator (I guess this does no good as the time I need the volts the engine is off) Super thick Positive & Neg wires and a very close gound to the engine. 2 very large size ( about the size of 1 1/2 normal batteries class 29 maybe??) boat deep cycle batteries. There are good for about 4-5 hours of loud as hell. This off season I am upgrading all 5 amps they now will all be unregulated class H I have seen products (stinger antidote, Jacobs accuvolt, harrison flux capicator, US Amps optimizer) that were talked about years ago to boost & stabilize the volts up to 14 or higher. They sound like what I think I need but I dont see talk of them much in the last few years. Are one of them my solution or Is there now a better alternative? or do I need different batteries to get 14V output. If anyone knows please let me know THX
graham0599 Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 There's no way to without 1. a charging system of some sort or 2. a shit load of AGM batteries Unfortunately stereos don't run off of hopes and dreams My 350z build- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174424-2008-350z-build/page-2?hl=%2B350z+%2Bbuild#entry2605678
graham0599 Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Also, The highest I've personally see a 12v battery rest at is 13.3. The only way to get and maintain 14+ volts is to switch to a 14v setup. That requires all new batteries, step-downn modules, lots of planning, and typically aren't as reliable My 350z build- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174424-2008-350z-build/page-2?hl=%2B350z+%2Bbuild#entry2605678
fox_racin4 Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 You can train batteries to rest around 14v or higher.. BUT thats usually only for burp vehicles Only option is to add a couple more batterys Or run the engine more often 1998 gmc extd cab 12 crossfire C710s 4 SAZ-4500s 3 Singer 400A altsbuncha mids/highs Team Asshole
Sonic Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Or run a relatively smaller and quiet engine that only turns an alternator to keep up.
dixie Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 What about these stinger antidote, Jacobs accuvolt, harrison flux capicator, US Amps optimizer see video on yoptube of the Jacobs accuvolt
Tarball Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 What about these stinger antidote, Jacobs accuvolt, harrison flux capicator, US Amps optimizer see video on yoptube of the Jacobs accuvolt If it was that simple everyone would be running one of these. He's only hitting the circuit with "burps". It would not be able to sustain this for long in a real world situation. Emmet Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Through the power of jesus. But for serious, I'd invest in a nice big battery bank. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you?
