SnowDrifter
Yes, I got them painted. I'm fairly pleased with the look. But in terms of durability: nothing beats a good powdercoat. Pretty much this stuff will last until I get new tires, but it won't hold up to the tire changing process itself. So at that point, I think I'd just get new rims since it's like 100-120 bucks a rim for new vs 80 for a powder coat ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
SnowDrifter
My only issue with new rims is none of them have the wide spokes like my stock ones do. I like that look. Plus I like the look of the chrome on black contrast ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
zack_e89
Nice! Thanks for posting that pic! I'm painting my rims TONIGHT. I want to use rustoleum black primer and flat black. Did you use that video? How did you prep exactly? edit: i was just going to pick up some assorted sandpaper as well 97 Suburban 8 custom PSI Platform 3 18's
SnowDrifter
Lots of sanding, then a wipedown with alcohol to get rid of any grease or oils If you are using their flat black enamel: be warned that it takes a LOT of time to cure and harden. And be gentle with the rims too - it's still just spray paint lol ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

SnowDrifter
I used the rustoleum pro enamel. It takes a few weeks to harden since it's oil based ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
