When does cone area and power exceed the efficiency of a ported box in spl

yes i used search option first, and its not a question that I've seen asked

this is all in theory, so all in a perfect world and car

so lets say i have 2.5cuft gross to use, and no more

for this to be a fair, and an equal playing field, lets say all the speakers suggested will be sundown E series

all will be on max recommend power as well, torres was used for the ported boxes @ 14sq" of port to 1cuft net or as close as i could get

options would be

1 ported 12 in 1.3net @33hz 17"sq of port (recommend 1.5-2net) 400rms

1 ported 10 in 1.25net @33hz 17"sq of port (recommend 1-1.25net) 400rms

2 ported 8 in 1.2net @33hz 17"sq of port (recommend 1-1.2net/0.5-0.6each) 400rms, 200each

1 sealed 15 in 2.35net (recommend 2.5net) 400rms

2 sealed 12 in 2net (recommend 2net/1net each) 800rms 400each

4 sealed 10 in 2net (recommend 2net/0.5each) 1600rms 400each

8 sealed 8 in 2net (recommend 2net/0.25each) 1600rms 200each

97.18"sq on 400rms 12mm xmas (1x 12" ported) just under optimum net

61.85"sq on 400rms 12mm xmas (1x 10" ported)

Hi Micker, welcome, port the maximum external dimensions for a box and the vehicle you are placing this in, efficiency can be affected by aiming of the speakers, quality of power and signal..the equipment you are using, the frequency response you want... etc

Let me try to see what you are asking

Will

80-100sq"of cone in a port box on 400rms

Be louder then

250-330sq" of cone in al sealed 1600rms

Whan you only have a set space to work within

Sealed v's port it a hard 1 as every car and setup is different

I've never actuly tried this with 2 boxes both have with same gross, And see what I louder

Would be intersted to see if anyone has some comparisons where the have tyred

yes

of couse fitting 8x 8" in 2.5gross is going to be hard

but im between

4x sealed 10"

v's

1x 10 ported or even 2x 8 ported

now i dont want to make it a v's thread

i just what to know at what point will power and cone area exceed spl in a ported box
