afrakes Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Hey all, I'm possibly in the market to purchase a new (to me at least) truck/SUV. It's going to be older, probably looking at '98 - '06 range, depending solely on price/performance. I'm looking at toyota, chevy, dodge, or possibly a hard top jeep. It has to be a 4x4, if a truck, it hast to be an extended or quad cab. Anyways, my budget will be $3000 - $4500 including taxes and licensing. Any reccomendations for a good, reliable and cost efficient truck/SUV that hopefully has some cargo room for a small sub stage? zack_e89 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Well you seem to be interested in the same thing that I was before I bought my Jeep, and in the same price range. I also test drove a couple blazers. 97 Suburban 8 custom PSI Platform 3 18's

IndianaBassHead Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 http://seattle.craig...3438979157.html he said he wants 4x4. But a suburban would be nice if you could find one for the money! afrakes Posted December 7, 2012 Author Report Posted December 7, 2012 Yeah to be honest I'm thinking a little smaller than a suburban. Looking into 4runners, jimmys, tacoma ext cabs, jeep hard tops, etc. I don't have kids or toys to haul, so a v6 is fine and I don't need third row seeting available... Just 4x4, good for camping and skiing all while having enough cargo room for a single 12 or 15. Just not sure what my best bet is for reliabilty undder $4000... Looks like a 94 is the best I could do 4runner wise, and almost everything else has 200,000+ miles on it. I'm kinda stuck in a rut with the budget I have to work with... BobbyG2 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 I'd say an 94-98 5.0L Explorer/Mountaineer. Those 5.0s will last forever! Also, a similar aged 6cyl. Blazer will be pretty recliable too. They're both not the best on gas, but the engines in those will be the last things to go. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*

Alright thank you, I began looking into blazers but I haven't really checked ou the explorers or mountaineers yet. Thanks for the input! glockman513 Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 I've had bad luck with an explorer that will keep me away from ford, forever. If you're feeling DOWN & OUT, it's time to get UP & IN
